Koh Samet is an island in Phe Subdistrict.  Mueang Rayong District, Rayong Province, in the area of ​​Khao Laem Ya national park - Mu Koh Samet. It is a famous tourist attraction in Rayong.  That has been popular foe both of Thais and Foreigners tourism. It is about 6.5 kilometers from the coast of Ban Phe, with an area of ​​​​about 3,125 rai, in a triangular shape.  It is believed that Koh Kaew Phitsadan  in the literature “Phra Aphai Mani” of Soonthornphu, may be there is located at Koh Samet because of there are white sand beaches everywhere.  The reason why it is named Koh Samet is because there are many Samet White villagers and Samet Daeng villagers live in Koh Samed.

Attractions on Koh Samet

  • Ao Klang is in the northern part of the island.  Seen from the side of Ban Phe. There is a white sandy beach about 1 kilometer long as the location of the community of Koh Samet Village and a tourist boat stop.
  • Sai Kaew Beach is in the southeast of the island, about 800 meters from the village of Koh Samet. It is a white sandy beach, approximately 780 meters long.
  • Ao Wong Duean is on the east side at the center point of the island.  It is a bay that curves like a half moon  with the white sandy beach is about 500 meters long.
  • Ao Prao is the only sandy beach on the west side of the island, approximately 200 meters long.
