7 Things to do in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam Ep.1
If you are coming to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and still not sure where to start because there are many interesting places. Whether the architecture history, way of life, culture, and food, so we took what we went and were impressed.
1. eat Pho
Which is a traditional Vietnamese noodle soup. The broth is made from a stock that fills the noodles, and you can choose from a variety of toppings to customize your meal. You can also choose different meats to add to the soup, such as beef or pork.
If you want to try some of the best pho in town, your best bet is to stop at one of the many street food stalls here. Take advantage of popular restaurants like Pho 24 and Pho 2000.
2. Bonsai River Cruise
If you want to spend time in the city from a water vantage point, then head to the Bonsai River Cruise.
Here, you'll get the chance to take a boat ride that includes dinner and take you back to the days of dining on a luxury boat.
This is a traditional dragon boat built from the 19th century and offers a dinner buffet with live music.
3. Visit Notre Dame Cathedral
The Notre Dame Cathedral was built between year 1877 and 1883, located in the center of the city.
The cathedral was designed in a neo-Romanesque style and you can admire the tower here, which stands 40 meters tall and has an impressive iron spire.
The name of basilica is from Virgin Mary and its interior is covered with altars and stained windows glass, where staff will provide visitors with an explanation of the cathedral's entire history throughout the week.
4. Crawl through Cu Chi Tunnels
The main attraction in Ho Chi Minh City is the Cu Chi Tunnels, which were used by Viet Cong guerrillas during 1968. The tunnel consists of several underground chambers stretching 30 kilometers from the city, and you can now visit different sections of the tunnel and crawl through tiny gaps to experience the state of the Viet Cong during the Vietnam War.
Please note!! This place is not suitable for people who are afraid of narrow spaces because the tunnel is very small.
5. Visit the Giac Lam Pagoda
The Giac Lam Pagoda is the oldest temple in Ho Chi Minh City and was built from AD 1744.
Chedi mountain is set in a beautiful garden and name of temple means 'Feel the Woods Temple'. At the entrance to the temple you will find an elegant Bodhi tree, which is sacred in Buddhism and a gift from visiting monks from Sri Lanka in 1953.
You can walk around the grounds and admire its beautiful architecture and feel the serenity at the same time.
6. Visit Central Post Office
The post office might not sound very exciting, but the post office in Ho Chi Minh City was designed by Uncle Gustave Eiffel. The father who gave birth to the Eiffel Tower.
The building is designed in the Gothic style and was built in 1886, it remains one of the most famous monuments in the city.
Be sure to go inside as you'll find a massive dome and grand walls adorned with maps from the colonial era. There is also a portrait of Ho Chi Minh, the founding father of Vietnam.
